Maureen Pascoe - Principal

Maureen was born in Cornwall and studied dance from the age of four.  She initially pursued a secretarial career and was later administrator for both the Cornwall Youth Orchestra and the Cornwall Rural Music School.

In 1975 Maureen resumed her dance training with Irene Luke and then with Kay Jones at the Capitol school of dance and in 1988 started her own dance school.

In addition to running a successful dance school Maureen has been involved with the Duchy Ballet Company since it's inception in 1998. She was also Producer and Ballet Mistress for the junior corps de ballet of Duchy Ballet.

Maureen has also choreographed for the St. Austell Operatic Society, where one of her biggest challenges was to choreograph for 42nd Street, which involved huge tap dancing sequences.  She has also choreographed for My Fair Lady, South Pacific, Calamity Jane, Half a Sixpence, Sister Act and Me and My Girl.

Katie Maddocks - Assistant Teacher

Katie (like Maureen) was also born in Cornwall and started dancing from the age of two with Miss Luke and Mary Drake at the Roseville School of Dance in Newquay.  It wasn't until the closure of the school that she moved to Roche to continue her dance classes with Maureen in 1993 where she has been for the past 30 years doing ballet, tap and modern.

She has performed with Duchy Ballet for several years taking different roles such as The Keeper of the Garden in The Snow Queen to Mrs Stahlbaum in the Nutcracker, also helping with costumes, backstage and building the scenery.

Katie has also taught at St Austell College in the Performing Arts department for 3 years.

After taking her Intermediate ballet exam, she started to assist Maureen with some of the classes and now after taking and passing her Teaching Diploma she teaches and runs the school for Maureen while she is away.

In 2020, during the pandemic, Katie completed her DDE with the ISTD for Cecchetti Ballet, via The Weston School in Chelmsford with Elisabeth Swan.

Katie has also performed with the St Austell Operatic Society in their 100th year in My and My Girl, and in October 2017, she performed with Newquay Stage Company in the Cornish Premiere of CATS, and choreographed their 2018 and 2019 show's The Wedding Singer and The Show Must Go On, also shows in 2020 (before lockdown) and in 2022 with the help of NSC Katie brought back pantomime to Newquay for the first time in 15 years, in which she continues to be director and choreographer for.
